This June, as the world observes Men’s Health Awareness Month, All Talentz is thinking about something we’ve come to believe deeply: you cannot build excellence — in business, in teams, or in life — on a foundation of neglected health. And we didn’t just believe it. On May 23, 2026, we did something about it.
Four Years. One Choice.
Most companies mark their anniversaries with dinners, speeches, or press releases. When All Talentz turned four years old, we made a different choice. We took the day — and we gave it back.
Lighting Lives, our first large-scale community health outreach initiative, brought free dental checks, free eye tests, and free blood pressure screenings to the residents of Yaba, Lagos. Over 500 community members came through our station —some having their first structured health check in years. The same day, our team visited a local older people’s home, bringing food and presence to people who deserved both.
Why Men’s Health Month Matters to Us
June is Men’s Health Awareness Month—a time dedicated to reminding men that showing up for their health is not weakness; it is wisdom. At Lighting Lives, a significant portion of the 500+ people we served were men: men who had not been to a doctor in years, men who dismissed discomfort as something to push through, men who simply had never had access to the kind of basic screening that can catch a condition before it becomes a crisis.
We know, from the doctors who volunteered their time on May 23, that preventable conditions are found every single day in communities where access to care is limited. Catching a blood pressure reading that needs attention, or a dental issue that has been left untreated, can change the trajectory of someone’s health—and their life. Men’s Health Month is a reminder that these conversations need to happen. Lighting Lives was our way of starting one.
Mental Health Starts With Physical Health
We often separate mental and physical well-being into different conversations. But the research is clear: chronic physical illness affects mental health, and untreated mental health challenges manifest physically. When a person does not have access to basic health screening—when they are managing pain, undiagnosed conditions, or the anxiety of not knowing—their mental well-being suffers in step.
This is why All Talentz believes that giving back to a community’s physical health is also an investment in their mental health. Lighting Lives was not just about stethoscopes and dental chairs. It was about removing the weight of not knowing. It was about saying to over 500 people: Your health matters enough to check on, and you deserve that without cost or barrier.
